DCS SQUADRONS

CUSTOM DCS WORLD SQUADRON ART

It started years ago, wanting to customize the art files in my Falcon 4.0 cockpit. Adding a picture of my wife or my dog (or both), and trying to figure out how in the world to do that. Fast forwarding several decades, it's now quite a lot easier to have custom liveries in DCS World. And since I pilot the F/A-18c Hornet almost exclusively, easier still.

My own experiences in various online DCS squadrons had me taking those traditional, real-life Navy Fighter Attack squadrons and maybe tweaking or updating some of them to work better in DCS. Maybe it was just the fonts, maybe the design could be a bit cleaner or more balanced, in my opinion anyway. So I'd build some newer versions of these squadrons emblems onto the Hornet skins, distribute to the rest of our online squadron, easy. And it's always cool to look out the canopy and see everyone flying the same livery.

Before I get going too far here, let me preface all this by saying an important point with regards to these historic and often legendary real-life United States Navy and Marine Corps Fighter Attack Squadrons and the emblems they bare. While we've made subtle tweaks to some, more sweeping changes to others, our intention is always to preserve the essence of the original. All of our emblem design versions have been created with deep respect for the original design and their respective designers. It is our homage to these squadrons, their personnel, crews, and veterans.

We’ve had some success selling some of our versions of select squadron merchandise for various groups. However, at times, our vendors may flag these designs as potential copyright violations. It’s important to note that all squadron artwork and emblems are the exclusive, copyrighted property of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. If our designs too closely resemble the originals, we’re legally prohibited from selling them. And while you may see many online vendors offering products featuring these emblems, most of those are unauthorized and infringe on copyright laws—and that’s not how we do things.

That said, we’re always happy to explore creative possibilities. If you’re interested in something specific, feel free to reach out and we’ll see what we can do within the legal guidelines.

Below are some examples of our past work. We'll be adding more examples as we go. If interested in any custom artwork, please reach out and lets talk about what you're thinking.
